Brother Finds Rare Childhood Alarm Clock Gift After 15 Years
The Original Post
I feel silly gushing about this but I typically feel like I get pretty generic stuff that my siblings also get some variant of.
This year, I got a sweater that my in-laws thought looked like something a librarian would wear (I start in January), my partner and I somehow got each other the same cozy oversized hoodie thing (but personal enough that we each felt appreciated and seen). I got a lot of fun and cute gifts but holy shit, my brother got me a toy that I haven’t seen since I was 12 years old.
I had barely peeled back the wrapping paper before I started losing it. He somehow tracked down a niche alarm clock that I don’t think has been in circulation for at least 15 years. That thing has terrorized my family since I won it in a magazine competition and as soon as my mother and other siblings saw it, the memories of being woken up by an alien monster came flooding back. We shared the stories about it rudely interrupting our sleep, one time going off when my mother was alone in the house. Although the box it is in is a little busted, I refuse to remove it. I’m so happy I could cry, and it’s so funny to me that of any gift I could have received, a goofy alarm clock was the showstopper.
I told him thank you but I don’t think that’s enough, I am amazed that he found it, and trying to decide whether to subject my partner to it or just leave it on display in its box
