So I have been noticing that our neighbors son (m20) has been trying to flirt with me for the past year or so. He seems to always be in the vicinity whenever I go to or back from work. Trying small tack, giving me compliments. If I had bags with me he wanted to carry them. I can’t for the life of me understand what we would even have in common if he was just “innocently” chatting. I realized probably he has a crush on me. I told my husband this and his reaction was to literally laugh for 5 minutes. Literally HAHAHAHA, why would he look at you when he can 20 something girls.
I don’t know, I didn’t ask him
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.
He called me delusional. I was very put off. I know that my 20 yo neighbor can hit on 20 yo girls and that’s the normal thing but I was just mentioning something because it was abnormal.
Am I that ugly?
Come on! You know what I mean, why would he look at a 40 something when he can have 20 something.
That’s why I mentioned it.
Honestly, I got the ick because why would he make me feel so bad and laughing? Was it worth it? Anyway this weekend my neighbors kid “accidentally” took the elevator with me again. I felt uncomfortable because he was looking at me the whole time and then he said that I looked great in my dress and should wear more fitting clothes like this and not my usual clothes. I don’t need to hide “this” I told him he’s maybe too young to understand, but you don’t talk to your neighbors that way. He apologized. When I got home he had found me on instagram and sent me a Spotify link to a Nate Dogg song with a “I thought you might like this” and a shy emoji. Now I am not comfortable but I am even less comfortable telling my douchy husband to be dismissed because there are women younger than me in this world. Maybe I will look into pepper spray and if it’s legal in my country.
I am just venting. I expect nothing in return
What Reddit Said
Redditors overwhelmingly supported OP and slammed her husband’s cruel reaction. Many pointed out that younger men are absolutely attracted to older women, with the top comment noting that “MILFs are attractive to younger guys.” Users shared their own experiences of witnessing or experiencing age-gap attraction.
However, commenters also expressed concern about the neighbor’s escalating behavior. They validated OP’s discomfort about being followed to the elevator and contacted on social media. Many suggested the husband’s dismissive attitude left her without proper support for a potentially concerning situation.
The Verdict
The consensus was clear: OP’s husband was completely wrong to laugh and dismiss her concerns. This situation shows how a husband laughed at wife flirting concerns instead of providing support. Reddit agreed that older women are indeed attractive to younger men, and her husband’s reaction was both cruel and naive. This appears to be a case of relationship problems where emotional support was desperately needed but cruelly withheld.
