An 18-year-old girl finally decides to leave her 26-year-old boyfriend who cheats on her, refuses to wear condoms, and calls her horrible names. She’s had two abortions because of his behavior and is terrified of his reaction to the breakup. Reddit immediately recognizes every red flag of abuse and urges her to run.

The Original Post

I have been so upset and being sick all day because of the way he treats me.

He calls me horrible names, has cheated on me multiple times, has a problem with weed and drinking and I have had to have an abortion 2 times because he refuses to wear condoms

He does not care about how I feel about anything and I don’t think I can do this anymore

I will feel lost without him and I will miss him but I just can’t do this anymore. I don’t know how he will react and am scared to tell him so I might just send a text

I just wanted to get it off my chest

Edit: I’ve now left. I got my important stuff and left to a friends house whilst he was out with his friends. I don’t know what I’m going to do from here but I appreciate most of yall comments wishing me well. Thank you

Reddit’s response was swift and unanimous. Commenters immediately identified this as a textbook case of abuse. The age gap, cheating, reproductive coercion, and her fear of his reaction painted a clear picture.

Users catalogued every red flag in the relationship. Moreover, they provided practical advice about safely leaving. The community rallied around her with support and validation for her decision.

The Verdict

The overwhelming consensus: she absolutely needs to leave this abusive relationship immediately. This is a clear case of relationship abuse where leaving abusive older boyfriend was the only safe option. Reddit celebrated when she updated that she had successfully escaped to a friend’s house while he was out.
