Neighbors Complained About Legal Street Parking, Got Revenge

📅 February 21, 2026 👁️ 13 views ⏱️ 3 min read
A homeowner got fed up with neighbors constantly complaining about his legal street parking while keeping their own junk cars illegally parked for years. He called the police, got all five cars tagged for towing, and watched his hypocritical neighbors scramble to move them to their previously empty driveways.

The Original Post

I live in a suburban neighborhood and for some reason everyone parks their cars on the street, while their driveways remain empty. My wife parks her car in our garage (only room for one with bikes, mower, etc. in there) and my two high school aged kids have just enough room to park their two cars in our driveway. That means I’m hunting for street parking every day when I come home from work. Four different times I’ve been asked by four different neighbors not to park along the street in front of their house despite it being 100% legal. One note left on my car was an expletive filled rant about how rude I was for parking in front of their house. After the most recent note, I looked around and realized that five cars parked on the street had not moved in years, and the law is they’re supposed to be moved every 3 days. Most were owned by the people who had asked me to not park in front of their houses. After being harassed for my legally parked car while several other cars just sat there illegally parked, I’d had enough. After notifying the police, all five cars were immediately tagged indicating they needed to be moved or they’d be towed. Honestly, it was great, the next day the hoods were all up and my neighbors were trying to get these cars started. They’ve been moved onto the previously empty driveways, and now there’s plenty of room for parking.

What Reddit Said

Redditors absolutely loved this petty revenge story. The top comment perfectly captured the hypocrisy: street parking was apparently reserved for their junk cars, not OP’s active vehicle. Moreover, many users shared similar experiences with entitled neighbors who think they own public parking spaces.

Several commenters applauded OP’s methodical approach to the problem. In fact, one user shared their own success story about calling multiple agencies on a problematic neighbor with roosters and junk cars. The consensus was clear: OP handled the situation perfectly.

The Verdict

Reddit’s verdict was overwhelmingly positive for this case of neighbors complaining legal street parking while being hypocrites themselves. The poetic justice of watching them desperately try to start cars that hadn’t moved in years resonated with thousands of users. This is classic petty revenge executed flawlessly through proper legal channels.
